Exclamation RE: Version Updates (which files have changed)
(12-26-2011 09:06 AM)admin Wrote:  To simplify upgrades, we will list files updated in each version.

If you supplied build with just the upgrade files would be even simpler for those owners needing to upgrade.

Even simpler would be to actually develop an "upgrader" for your script owners. Making this process more bulletproof would be really a positive step.

The upgrade process requires sorting through your forum and installtion folders for:
-what files have changed, (unzip here shows all "modified dates" as time of the unzip),
-what sql queries are necessary for each version,
-finding strings of instructions scattered about, like "config.php = Be careful with this file",
-"PS: Do not upload /install/index.php if you are running an upgrade", -"if you are upgrading to this version you MUST READ OUR IMPORTANT NOTICE"
-the readme. and upgrade files in the zips..

This approach sure opens a window for the margin of error, even for an experienced site owner or technician. It's probably just my competence level, but judging by the many posts about the failures after upgrading, this all seems a bit risky to perform an established site. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Kudos for your new installation video. Good job.

Upload the new files to the server and should we do things which u have mention in the link
